Funeral services for Johanna F. Franzen, 94, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 5 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Titonka with Pastors Kim and Trudy Peterson officiating.

Mrs. Franzen died at the Titonka Care Center Thursday, February 1, 1990.

Casket bearers were her grandsons Greg Finer, David Isebrand, Darrell Isebrand, Douglas Culbertson, Sherman Finer, Rodney Isebrand, Bruce Culbertson, Scott Fredrickson and Michael Fredrickson. ... She married Herman Franzen on February 19. 1920 at the home of her parents. They lived their entire married life on the same farm. They retired and moved into Titonka in 1959. HEIKO BRUNS, SR., son of Henry F. Bruns and Jana (Flesher) Bruns was born October 11, 1856 at Oldenburg Germany. He came to America in 1870 with his family and settled at Freeport, Illinois. Shortly after this time, he moved to GrundyCenter, Iowa.

MARGARETHA ELISABETH FRERICHS, daughter of Fred and Etta (Weers) Frerichs, was born on September 26, 1886 in German Township, Grundy County, then moved to German Township, Kossuth County.* Heiko bought land for $6.20 per acre in 1882,the farm where his grandson, LeRoy Bruns now resides. At the time of his arrival in the Titonka area the land was all prairie and few trees were to be seen. The nearest rail-"
