Funeral services for Johanna F. Franzen, 94, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 5 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Titonka with Pastors Kim and Trudy Peterson officiating.

Mrs. Franzen died at the Titonka Care Center Thursday, February 1, 1990.

Casket bearers were her grandsons Greg Finer, David Isebrand, Darrell Isebrand, Douglas Culbertson, Sherman Finer, Rodney Isebrand, Bruce Culbertson, Scott Fredrickson and Michael Fredrickson.

Burial was in the church cemetery with the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Hoome of Titonka in charge of arrangements.

Johanna F. Franzen was born on June 12, 1895 on the family farm in German Township near Titonka, Iowa, the daughter of Heiko and Margaret (Frerichs) Bruns.

Johanna lived her entire life in the Titonka area and received her education in the German Valley Country School.

She married Herman Franzen on February 19. 1920 at the home of her parents. They lived their entire married life on the same farm. They retired and moved into Titonka in 1959/ Jer jisbamd [assed awau om 1971.

Johanna was very active in her church and she enjoyed doing fancy and quilting. She loved to be near her family and always had cookies ready for them when they stopped by for a visit.

Johanna entered the Titonka Care Center in Titonka in October of 1988.

Johanna is survived by one son, Raymond and his wife Mary of Titonka; three daughters, Mrs. Dale (Margaret) Finer, Mrs. Morris (Doris) Isebrand and Mrs. Francis (Delores) Culbertson, all of Titonka.

Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Flora Tjaden of Titonka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Lois; a daughter-in-law, Alice; a grandson, Gary and a great grandson, Anthony; four brothers and three sisters." <>
