Heiko Bruns, 83

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 27 at 11:00 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Titonka for Heiko H. Bruns, 83. Rev. Randy Nielson officiated with burial in the church cemetery. Garry-Roberts-Schaaf Funeral Home was incharge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were grandsons, David Post, James Post, Kenneth Post, John Post, Allen Post, Stephen Post, Paul Post and Greg Hoover.

Heiko H. Bruns was born on a farm near Titonka, Iowa on August 21, 1901 to Heiko and Margaret Frerichs Bruns. He received his education in the rural Titonka Schools.

On March 26, 1924, Heiko married Amanda Franzen at the Immanuel Lutheran Church and to this union 5 children were born.

Heiko and Amanda farmed the same farm where Heiko was born, until they moved to Titonka in 1960.

Heiko was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he was quite active, belonging to the Men's Brotherhood and serving on the Church Council. He enjoyed woodworking and built quite a few larger projects, while finding time to makesome 'special' items for the grandchildren. He also loved to fish.

Heiko passed away on Wednesday, October 24 at the Kossuth County Hospital at Algona, following a lingering illness.

He is survived by his wife Amanda of Titonka, three daughters, Mrs. Art (Marvella) Post of Woden, Mrs. Erwin (Troyce) Post and Amanda Bruns both of Titonka, and one son, LeRoy and his wife Sandra of Titonka.

Also surviving are 17 grand-children, 3 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Johanna Franzen, Mrs. Martha Schutter and Mrs. Flora Tjaden, all of Titonka.

Heiko was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Alfred in 1931, 3 brothers, Henry, Fred and Ewald and 1 sister, Etta Fahrenholtz." <>
