Funeral services for Flora M. Tjaden, 91, were held Friday, September 7. Rev. Merlin Norris officiated at the 10:30 a.m. services in the Good Hope Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Tjaden died at the North Iowa Medical Center Tuesday, September 4, 1990.

Casket bearers were Randy Tjaden, Aaron Boyken, Marshall Boyken, Harry Schutter, Matthew Buffington and Raymond Franzen.

Interment was in the Good Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Titonka with the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Titonka in charge of arrangements.

Flora Marie Tjaden was born on June 11, 1899 in rural Titonka, the daughter of Heiko and Margaret (Frerichs) Bruns. She was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Titonka. She received her education at GermanValley School and later attended German Confirmation School at the Immanuel Church.

Flora was married to Stephen Tjaden at her parent's home in Titonka on March 11, 1926. They farmed northwest of Titonka most of their married life, retired and moved into town in 1966.

She enjoyed reading, loved to raise flowers and was the happiest when whe was with her family.

Her husband passed away in 1978 and she entered the Titonka Care Center in that same year, where she resided until her illness a few weeks ago.

Mrs. Tjaden is survived by three daughters, Marjorie Rand of Burlington, Lorna Tjaden of Robinsdale, MN and Mrs. Allan (Joy) Boyken of Titonka; two sons, William Tjaden and his wife Barbara of Titonka and Dr. Herbert Tjaden and his wife,Alice of Burlington. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and four sisters." <>
