Stephen Tjaden, 78

Funeral services were held for Stephen Tjaden, 78, of Titonka on Saturday, March 25th at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka with the Rev. Thomas Hunt officiating.

Interment was in the Good Hope Lutheran Cemetery, rural Titonka. Pallbearers were Warden Smith, Clarence Van Hove, Harry Schutter, Leroy Bruns, Ray Franzen and Norman Bruns.

Music was provided by Mrs. Leonard Leeck, organist and the church choir.

Stephen Tjaden was born May 21, 1889 [sic] in Titonka to William and Katie (DeBoer) Tjaden and spent his entire life in the Titonka area. He ware [sic] married on March 11, 1926 to Flora Bruns at the Hieko Bruns home. He retired fromfarming in 1966.

Mr. Tjaden died in Titonka on Thursday, March 23.

He is survived by his wife, Flora; three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Rand of Burlington, Mrs. Lorna Buffington of New Hope, Minn., and Mrs. Allen (Joy) Boyken of Titonka; two sons, William of Titonka and Dr. Herbert Tjaden of Burlington; twosisters, Mrs. Ted (Bina) Van Hove and Mrs. Siemen (Frances) Smidt; and twelve grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother." <>
