"Mrs. Annett Franzen, 92 Passes Away Saturday

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, January 27 from Immanuel Lutheran Church for Mrs. Annette Franzen, who passed away last Saturday. Rev. H. A. Diers officiated at the services, with the Swan Funeral Home in charge ofarrangements. Pall bearers were Raymond Franzen, Marlyn Franzen, Lewis Franzen, Alton Limberg, Arthur Rike and Morris Isebrand, Interment was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Annette Franzen, the daughter of Benhard Amelsberg and his wife Ida nee Kramer, was born at Forreston, Illinois on August 12, 1866. Annette was baptized soon after birth into the Name of the Triune God and was reared in a christian home. This family moved to a farm north of Titonka in the year 1877.

The deceased was married to Henry Franzen by Pastor D. Schafer on November 3, 1892. They lived on various farms in the vicinity of Titonka. Their union was blessed was 4 sons and 4 daughters.

Mrs. Franzen and her husband were charter members of Immanuel Lutheran Church which was organized in 1898. They belonged to that group of pioneers who saw Iowa develop from its primitive state into the garden spot of America. Thisinvolved many hardships and much hard work, but in faith they looked up to their Savior for strength and guidance.

Her family has been Mrs. Franzen's great interest throughout life. She was concerned that all her children and children's children be reared and educated in the Christian faith and remain active in the work of the church. She was alwaysinterested and concerned in the welfare of the congregation. One of her great joys in life came to her since a grandson prepares himself for the holy since her husbands death she

In the year 1930 Mr. and Mrs. Franzen retired to Titonka, but since her husbands death she made her home with her daughter Lina.

Her husband, Henry Franzen preceded her in death on September 10, 1947. Also two children: A daughter Ida (Mrs. Walter Ostermann) in 1927; a son Henry in the year 1951.

Mrs. Franzen attended church services regularly as long as her physical condition permitted. The Word of God remained her staff and stay during her declining years. She welcomed the visits of her pastor and frequently partook of HolyCommunion.

Last September she became bedfast but was lovingly cared for by her children. On Saturday morning January 24th at 2 a.m. she passed into eternity at the age of 92 years 5 months, and 12 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing: three sona; Ben, Herman, and Dick; and three daughters; Carrie (Mrs. Henry Bruns), Lina (Mrs. George Sonnenberg), and Alice (Mrs. Herman Limberg) all of this vicinity; one half-brother, G. A. Amelsberg of California, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

'Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them'. Rev. 14:13."
