Eileen Frye Oct. 28, 1948-Nov. 30, 2005

Eileen Claire Frye was born October 28, 1948, the daughter of Clarence and Myrtle V. Bates Dirks. She died in a weather-related automobile accident near Holstein, Iowa, November 30, 2005 at the age of fifty-seven.
Eileen was born in Sibley, Iowa, and received her education in the Ocheyedan Community High School, graduating with the class of 1966. In 1987, she returned to college at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, to complete her Bachelor of Science degree as a paralegal, graduating with the class of 1990.
After her marriage to Terry Frye, the couple settled in North Sioux City, South Dakota. After a few years, she moved with her children to Sioux City, Iowa, where she worked at IBP, Inc., and various other jobs in the area before returning to college. After graduating in 1990, she and the children moved to Schleswig, Iowa, where Eileen took a position with the Reimer, Lohman, and Reitz Law Firm in nearby Denison. In 1995, she attained a position with the Carter Law Firm in Sioux City.

In her leisure time, Eileen enjoyed gardening and caring for her house plants. She enjoyed her work as a paralegal and used the computer professionally and as a means of entertainment with computer games. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved the time spent with her family and playing various family games with them. She was a sideline participant in her son's football games in addition to watching football on TV. Her love for her Lord and Savior is evidenced by her regular attendance in church and her interest in Christian books.

She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence D. Dirks and one sister, Carol Jean Dirks, as an infant and one infant grandson, Antonnio Jr. Survivors include her four children; her daughters, Carol Hines of Sioux City; Billi Castle and her husband, Jesse and son Antonnio Mann and his wife, Christina, all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; her daughter, Kim Martin and her husband, Dan of Modesto, California; six grandchildren, Michael and Andrew Hines, and Claire Mann, Jordan Castle and Emily and Lindsay Martin; her mother, Myrtle Dirks of Ocheyedan, Iowa; two brothers, Harold Dirks and his wife, Geri of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Charles Dirks and his wife, Ronna of Ocheyedan, Iowa; and one sister, Twila Johnson and her husband, Don A. of Yuma, Arizona.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005 at United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Chris Burtnett officiated the service and Tammy Neubauer provided the organ accompaniment for congregational hymns "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound". Special service music CD of "Hole in the Floor of Heaven" by Steve Warner was played. Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Dirks, Micah Johnson, Samuel Dirks, Daniel Dirks, Joshua Dirks and Ryan Dirks. Internment will be at the Ocheyedan Cemetery at a later date. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the Women's Guild.
