"Terry Frye May 28, 1948 - April 12, 2021

Terry L. Frye, 72, of Sioux Falls, SD/formerly from North Sioux City, SD passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 at Good Samaritan Village, Sioux Falls, SD.

Graveside Service will be 3:00 pm Friday, April 16 at McCook Cemetery, North Sioux City, SD.

Terry Leroy Frye, son of Orville and Mildred "Millie" (Trobaugh) Frye, was born May 28, 1948 in North Sioux City, SD. He grew up and was educated there. He was drafted into the US Army at 19 years old and served in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he then returned back home.

He was united in marriage with Eileen Dirks in 1975. They settled in North Sioux City, SD and were only together a few years. Terry entered the Stewart's Hairstyling School and returned to Sioux City where he cut hair for 10 years.

In 1985, he moved to Omaha, NE where he worked as a bartender, and in 1987 he moved to Kansas City, KS where he also worked as a bartender and lived with his lifetime best friend, William "Bill" Hunter.

In 1994, he returned to the Sioux City area where he worked as an inmate supervisor when the inmates cooked and cleaned at the Woodbury County Jail.

In 2006, he transferred up to Sioux Falls, SD where he worked as an inmate supervisor in the kitchen at the South Dakota State Penitentiary. He retired and began slowing down taking a part time job with Sam's Club. Few years ago, his health began to become a challenge. He entered Good Samaritan Village where he had been since.

Terry enjoyed crocheting, and would donate blankets to NICU Babies and scarves to the homeless.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughters, Carol Hines, Sioux Falls, SD, Billi (Jesse) Castle, Sioux Falls, SD and their brother, Antonnio "Tony" Mann, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Michael (Michael) Hines, Winona, MN, Andrew Hines (Hannah Mechtel), Garden Grove, MN, Jordan, Jayme, Brooklyn, Baylee Castle, Sioux Falls, SD, Claire, Christian, Axton Mann, Sioux Falls, SD; great grandchildren, Kennyon and Kinsely; eight siblings, Rick (Sue) Frye, Sioux City, IA, Becky Lasley, North Sioux City, SD, Tim (Betty) Hogan, North Sioux City, SD, Todd (Rhonda) Hogan, Sioux City, IA, Huck (Gina) Frye, Sioux City IA, Ernie Frye, North Sioux City, SD, Mona Plantenberg, Sioux City, IA, Eugene Frye, Sioux City, IA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, William Hogan; a brother, Mike Frye; his ex-wife, Eileen Frye; and a brother-in-law, Rick Lasley."
