"Norman M.

Funeral services were held today, Thursday, January 16 at 1:30 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Titonka, for Norman M. Brans, 70, of Titonka. Pastor Virtus Stoffregen officiated at the service. Mr. Bruns died Monday, January 13,1997 in the Hancock County Hospital in Britt.

Casketbearers were Marlyn Franzen, Ervin Fahrenholtz, Galyn Steinberg, Doug Steenhard, Jim Mayland and George Schuster. Anita Eden served as organist and there was congregational singing. Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Titonka, with military rites conducted by Breen American Legion Post #465 and William. F. Kennedy VFW Post #4071 of Titonka. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Titonka was in charge of arrangements.

Norman Martin Bruns was born October 30, 1926 in rural Kossuth County, Iowa to Henry and Carrie (Franzen) Brans. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Titonka. Norman attended country school near Titonka. He graduated from Titonka High School in 1945.

"Korean Conflict. Following his discharge in 1954, Norman returned to the family farm. He was married to Marlys Steinberg on January 30, 1955 in the Methodist Church at Buffalo Center. The couple farmed until they retired into Titonka in March of 1992.

Norman was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was a member of the Titonka William F. Kennedy VFW Post #4071. He served on the Titonka school board for nine years and was a board memberof the Titonka Telephone Company at the time of his death.

Norman enjoyed woodworking and visiting with his relatives, neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed traveling. Norman loved his Lord, his wife, his family, his church and all of the people in it.

He is survived by his wife, Marlys; four sons: Wayne and his wife, Kim, of Urbandale; Russell and his wife, Diane, of Titonka; Brian of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Scott of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one sister, Velida Bruns of Titonka.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents."
