MMS died at 3:15 p.m. in the nursing home in Buffalo Center. She was dying of cancer, but someone brought the influenza into the nursing home. Several residents died of it including Minnie.

"Obituary Funeral services for Minnie Gangstee, 69, of Elmore, Minnesota, mother of Mrs. Murray Berggren of Buffalo Center, were held Wednesday morning, January 31 1990 at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, Minnesota. Burial was in RiversideCemetery in Elmore with Wicks Funeral Home of Elmore in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Gangstee died Saturday,

January 27, 1990 at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center. Minnie May Sleper, daughter of Hugo and Mina (Kuper) Sleper, was born June 26, 1920 in Lakota. She attended school in Ledyard. She married Donald Gangstee on February 28,1941 in Elmore. They farmed south of Elmore until retirement in 1977 when they moved into Elmore. She was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church and was very active in church circle activities. Survivors include her husband; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Terry Reimer of Des Moines and Sharon and Murray Berggren of Buffalo Center; three grandchildren; one brother, Ray Sleper of Clarksburg, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Gertie) Meyer and Mrs. Elmer (Armena) Haas, both of Lakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one brother and two sisters."
