"My dad: Dick Sleper was born Feb. 17, 1887 and died July 24, 1969. He lived most of his life in German Township in Kossuth County, in Iowa. He was a soldier with the U.S. Army during World War I and was with the Military Police Corpsin France.

His father was Alvert Sleper, his mother was Gepke Freerks.
