Forest City Summit, March 19, 1936 (Forest City, Ia)

Henry Freerks, a pioneer farmer near Woden, died March 8, 1936. Born in Germany, December 18, 1866 to Mr and Mrs Henry Freerks. At the age of 24 he came to America. He married Harmke Groun. Surviving are his wife and children: Hattie(Mrs Herman Kuper), Britt, Dena (Mrs August Schoper) Buffalo Center and Helen ( Mrs Heilo Freerks) of Woden. Also three sisters: Henrietta, Germany, Mrs Albert Sleper, Buffalo Center, Mrs Tena Stumpf, four brothers: Heiko, John, Dedrickand Geo. Of Woden and a sister, Anna of Germany have preceded him in death. Burial Bingham Twp cemetery

NOTES: 1. We assume his daughter Hattie aka Hauke Freerks Kuper help write this obit up Her mother-in-law was a Groen. Henry Freerks married Harmke Sleper . I have a copy of their marriage entry from the Kossuth County Courthouse in Algona,Iowa. 2. Dena is Alberdena Margaretha Peters and Helen ( Mrs Heiko Freerks) is Hilkea Frederiko Peters. They are step-daughters of Henry Freerks. Their father was Henry Peters 3. Helen aka Hilkea married her stepfather, Henry Freerks brother Hauko Freerks He is listed here as Heiko 4. Mrs Albert Sleper was Gepka Margaret Freerks 5 Mrs Tena Stumpf was Steintje Freerks She married Jakob Stumpe As far as we know they never came to the States 6. Dedrick is Deterd Freerks. He married Johanna Smit As far as we know they never came to the States 7. Anna Freerks married Peter Sweed. Their only known child, Johann Sweed came to the States in 1923 to live with his uncle, Henry Freerks"
