'Funeral Services For Mrs. John Sleaper Conducted Monday

Funeral services for Mrs John Sleaper, 80, of this city were conducted Monday afternoon at the Emanuel Lutheran church. The Rev. Curtis Schleicher officiated at the rites, followed by burial in the Milbank cemetery.

Mrs. Sleaper died Friday at her home in this city, where she and her husband have resided since 1962.

Born May 11, 1886, at Grundy county, Iowa, Mrs. Sleaper was the former Jennie H. Kuper, daughter of Peter and Jennie Kuper. She moved with her parents from Iowa to Clear Lake, where she spent most of her youth.

She married John Sleaper at Clear Lake on Nov. 24, 1915. They farmed near Gary until 1926, when they moved to a farm near Marvin. From 1928 until 1942, they farmed near Twin Brooks. They retired in 1942 from farming and moved to TwinBrooks, living there until coming to this city.

Mrs. Sleaper was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran church.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Peter J., of Windlake, Wis., and Avert J., of Sussex, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Annie) Lage, of Shady Beach resort, Corona, and Mrs. George (Jennie) Vissers, West Allis, Wis.; 16grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Ben Kuper, II, Watertown, and Henry Kuper, Corona, and two sisters, Mrs. Able Limberg, Buffalo Center, Iowa, and Mrs. John Konstant, Twin Brooks.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; two sisters and four brothers.

Grandsons were the honorary pallbearers at her funeral. They were Gerald Lage, Ronald, Donald, Duane and Dean Sleaper and Andrew Vissers. Active pallbearers were George Folk and Norman Ditmar, Twin Brooks; Jim Berkner, Alvin Grothe,John Hurley and Merle Fish.

The Mundwiler Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.'
