"Henry and Hattie Schneiderman Family

Henry E. Schneiderman was born in Germany in November of 1875, the son of Evert and Abby Schneiderman. He immigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of one year. He and his parents resided in Franklin County, Iowa,before coming to the Dakota Territory in 1881, settling on a farm six miles south of Lennox, where he grew to manhood.

Hattie Groen, daughter of Jan and Remda (Enninga) Groen was born in Germany in July 1874. She came with her parents to the United States and located in the Forreston, Ill., area, before coming to South Dakota in 1889. The family locatedon a farm six miles south of Lennox.

Henry Schneiderman and Hattie Groen were united in marriage in February 1897. The couple was engaged in farming on a farm five miles south of Lennox, where their children were born, including Evert H. (1897-1983), Remda (born in 1898),Abbie (1900-1983), Jennie (born in 1917). Mr. Schneiderman was also engaged in the meat processing, well drilling, and sawmill business during this time.

The Scheiderman [sic] family moved into Lennox in 1919. While residing in Lennox Mr. Schneiderman was in the livestock marketing business, shipping to Chicago by rail. Following this venture, he went into the grain marketing businessand owned grain elevators in Lennox and in Hooker. He received the John Deere farm implement franchise in 1935 and sold John Deere products from stores in Lennox and Hurley.

Mr. and Mrs. Schneiderman were faithful members of the Turner County First Presbyterian Church and later the Second Reformed Church in Lennox.

Mrs Schneiderman passed away in September 1961 and her husband followed in December of the same year. They are buried in the Lennox Cemetery."

"Mrs. Schneiderman, nee Hattie Groen, was born in Weiner, Germany on July 2, 1874, daughter of John and Remda Groen. She spent her early childhood in her native land and at the age of 11 years, in 1885, came to the United States with herparents who located in Forreston, Ill. There the family lived for four years and in 1889 came to this locality and settled on a farm nine miles south and two miles east of Lennox."
