Following an illness of several months duration and hospitalization of ten days. Miss Henrietta Groen, a near lifelong resident of this community passed away in Sious Valley hospital last week Wednesday afternoon, December 22. She attained the age of 82 years, four months and four days.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Dindot & Son chapel, with the Rev. Calvin Tysen and the Rev. G. Docter officiating. Soloist was Mrs. Wilbur Dykstra and accompanist was Mrs. Ella Coy. Pallbearers were Herman Buisenga, Francis Johnke, John Wiebers, Clarence Ulberg, Verlyn Groen and Lorrin Groen. Burial was in the Lennox cemetery.

Henrietta Groen was born at Forreston, Illinois on August 16, 1889, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jan Groen. When she was approximately two month old her parents came to South Dakota and located on a farm south of Lennox. There she attendedrural school and grew to womanhood. In 1911 her parents retired and took up their residence in Lennox, she accompanying them here and made her home in Lennox for 60 years. She was a member of Second Reformed church.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were four brothers, Harm, Peter, John and Heiko; and three sisters, Mrs. H. E. Schneiderman, Mrs. Pete Murra, Mrs. Frank Johnke, and a sister passing away in infancy.

Deceased is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Remda Wiebers, Mrs. Minnie White and Miss Anna Groen, all of Lennox; and several ... [end of fragment]"
