'George and Minnie White Family

'George White was the oldest son of Daniel W. White and Ann Dora Keller White. He was born in the vicinity of Fairview, in 1875. they moved to Delaware Township and homesteaded there when George was a small boy. He attended Mt. HopeSchool all eight years. He attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion for one year, at times riding a bicycle to Vermillion. He then farmed with his father and did some carpenter work.

On July 1, 1908, he was married to Minnie Groen at Canton. Minnie Groen was born in Freeport, Ill., in 1888. She was the daughter of Jon and Remda Groen who were both born in Germany. She was educated in the Lincoln Center and PleasantView Schools.

George and Minnie lived on nearby farms. Both farms are still owned by family members. After their marriage they lived on a farm now owned by G. Edward Johnson. They then moved to the family farm when George's parents moved toCenterville, S.D.

They were the parents of five daughters, three of them passing away in infancy. Their living daughters are Mrs. Edith White Ulberg, Lennox, and Mrs. Ethel White Monson, Lennox. They had three granddaughters, Joyce, Jean, and RobertaMonson. They continued to make thier home on the same farm until 1940 when they moved to Centerville. They lived in his parents' home for ten years. They then moved to Lennox, where they built a new home. They lived there until theirdeath. George passed away in 1955 and Minnie in 1978, the last member of a family of 11.'
