'Heiko and Etta Groen Family

Heiko Groen was born on a farm south of Lennox. His parents were Jan and Remda Groen. There he was reared and attended Pleasant View School and helped his parents on the farm.

He married Henrietta Struck on March 3, 1915, in Sioux Falls. They located on a farm in Delaware Township. Henreitta was born in Lennox, on March 2, 1895, daughter of H. G. and Mollie Struck. She attended the Lennox Public schools.After graduating in 1912, she worked as a telephone operator until her marriage.

The couple continued their farming operations for 42 years. In 1957 they retired and moved to Lennox. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1965.

Heiko loved fishing and hunting. Henrietta enjoyed needlework as a hobby.

Their three children are Dorothy (Mrs. John Rehder), Lorrin, and Verlyn.

Heiko passed away on Oct. 11, 1965. Henrietta died on Nov. 6, 1982.'
