'Joseph and Ethel Monson Family

Joseph Monson was born in Centerville, and was the son of Henry and Lena Hill Monson, born on Jan. 1, 1909. He was educated in Turner County schools. He was a farmer all his life until his retirement to Lennox in 1981. On Jan. 15,1938, he was united in marriage to Ethel White, daughter of George and Minnie Groen White. They made thier home on the family farm in Delaware Township. Ethel being the third generation to live there. The farm is still in the familyalthough no one lives on the farm. Ethel White Monson was educated in Lincoln County in the same school her father attended, Mt. Hope. Their oldest daughter, Joyce Monson Carls, attended this school for three years making threegenerations attending this school. Joe and Ethel made thier home on her parents' farm for ten years and then moved to Turner County where they lived until retiring to Lennox in 1981. They are the parents of three daughters: Joyce (Mrs.DeWane Carls), Hartford, S.D.: Jean (Mrs. Don Smith) Centerville; and Roberta (Mrs. Roger Carls) Hartford, S.D. They have six grandchildren: Mary Jo, Darlene, Lisa, Jason, Stacy, and Kimberley Carls.'
