"Julia Mae (Koehler) Boekelman, 86, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. The memorial service was held at 2: p.m. on Friday, May 9 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center.

Julia was born in Washington County, IA, on December 12, 1927 to John and Clara (Martin) Koehler. Julia graduated as class president from Ainsworth High School in 1945. She then attended two years of college, taught school for two yearsand then went on to Central Colege in Pella for her B.A. degree, where she and her husband V.H. "Buck" met and were married on August 9, 1952 and have been married for 62 years.
