''Ike Jutting, 76

Funeral services for Ike Jutting, 76, of Ames were held Saturday, August 27 at Northminister Presbyterian Church in Ames with his brother-in-law, Rev. Robert De Young and Rev. Warren Frahm officiating. Ike passed away Sunday, August 14,2005 in Ames.

Ike was born September 10, 1928 in Buffalo Center and graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1946. He graduated from Central College in Pelia in 1950 and received a Master's Degree from Drake University in 1957.

He married Arlene E. Elbring on August 21, 1950 in Webster Groves, Missouri and began his teaching career in music at Woodward that same year. He held superintendent of school positions in Meriden from 1955-1957 and in Zearing from1957-1962. In the summer of 1962 he and his family moved to Ames and Ike sold school textbooks in the eastern two-thirds of Iowa until 1969 when he became the Executive Director of MICA. His last career move was to real estate in 1974,and he worked with Friedrich Realty until his retirement in 2001.

Ike was a member of Northminister Presbyterian Chuirch for over 35 years where he was an ordained elder, and served on committees and also sang in the choir. He joined the Ames Noon Lions Club in 1970, served in many capacities includingdistrict Governor, 1991-92 and received numerous awards for his leadership and service. Until the last few months, he was very active in the Heartland Senior Band playing his tenor sax. Ike received a kidney organ transplant in 1987 andwas active in a local support group for persons on the waiting list, transplant recipients and donor families.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene; his son Jeffrey and wife, Denise; his daughter, Jacqueline Mart and her husband, Kevin; his son, Jerrold and partner, Jon Zmolek; a sister, Carol De Young and husband, Robert; and six grandchildrenincluding Chris Jutting and Kellie Jutting. Ike was preceded in death by his parents, August and Hermina (Minnie) Albers Jutting of Buffalo Center and a sister, Lillian Waalkes of Aplington."
