"JOE AND CORA (EISENHAUER) ABELS
Joe Abels, son of John and Johanna Minnie (Myering) Abels was born on a farm near Kamrar, Iowa on July 26, 1914. His parents later moved to a farm near Buffalo Center. He was one of four children: John, Jr., Joe, Jennie and Edward.
Cora Eisenhauer, born on July 20, 1916 is the daughter of August Eisenhauer and Helen (Berschman) Eisenhauer. She is one of six children: Anna, Cora, Harold, Jack, Velma and Dorothy.
Joe and Cora met at the end of their parents' farm driveways where they lived across frm one another about three miles north and three miles east of Buffalo Center. This acquaintance blossomed into marriage on January 15, 1937.
Farming was their livelihood and always a farm to be proud of. They started farming northeast of Buffalo Center and later moved to their present farm three and one-quarter miles north of town.
Five children were born to this family: David, born October 17, 1937; Don, born May 18, 1941; Barb, born September 25, 1944; Jan, born October 28, 1947; Bev, born November 2, 1949.
David was married to Jane Johnson from Forest City, Iowa. Dave and Jane live on the Joe Abels farm north of town and are the parents of three children: Daniel, married to Deb Shortenhaus, frms west of Thompson, Iowa; Julie, married toVince Johnson, farms near Swea City, Iowa; and Cory at home. They have four grandchildren: Adam and Andrew Abels and Lyndsay and Lacey Johnson."

"Obituary for David L Abels
David Abels, age 74 of Buffalo Center, IA passed away at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, IA on Sunday February 26, 2012. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday March 1st at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Tim Diehl officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-8 PM at the church. David LeRoy Abels was born in Buffalo Center, Iowa on October 17, 1937 to Joe and Cora (Eisenhauer) Abels. He graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1956. One of Dave's favorite lunch spots was the Lake Mills A&W Drive In, which hefrequented often due to the cute carhop he met and would someday marry. On June 19, 1960 Dave married Jane Johnson and to this union three children were born. Dave loved to farm and lived to farm. He was also involved with the community and served on the local Farmer's Elevator Board and CongregationalChurch Board. During the 70's and 80's he also delivered motor homes for Winnebago Industries. These trips took him to 47 different states. Dave loved to fish and enjoyed many memorable fishing trips with family and friends. Dave enjoyed watching stock car races and attending races at the nearby dirt tracks. He also had an interest in computers and spent many hours educatinghimself learning the new technologies. He participated in the first on-line computer technology course through a local college and educated himself in writing his own programs for friends and businesses. Following this experience hehelped several friends and relatives develop computer skills of their own. Dave especially appreciated his family and the many friendships he had. His grandchildren were one of the highlights of his life and he enjoyed spending time with them. Dave passed away on February 26, 2012 at the Hancock Memorial Hospital from complications of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Dave is preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father-in-laws, Marion and Thelma Johnson. Left to cherish his memory include his wife Jane of Buffalo Center, IA; son Dan (Deb) Abels of Thompson, IA; daughter Julie (Vince) Johnson of Swea City, IA and son Cory (Jamie) Abels of Clarion, IA; grandchildren Adam and Andrew Abels,Lindsy and Lacey Johnson and Madison, Colton and Amelia Abels; brother Don (Marlys) Abels of Sun City, AZ; sisters Barb (Larry) Weaver of Buffalo Center, IA, Jan (Dave) Kiewiet of Buffalo Center, IA, Bev (Al) Murra of Vermillion, SD;aunts Pauline Eisenhauer and Dorothy Caltvedt both of Buffalo Center, IA; In-laws Judy (Earl) Trenhaile of Manly, IA, Joan (Bill) Stewart of Canon City, CO, Jan (Joe) Stock of Canon City, CO, Jill (Vern) Thompson of Lincoln, NE, alongwith cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Dave will always be remembered for
his integrity, good work ethic, his quick wit and sense of humor."
