Note: Alice (or Elsie) was married to Carl Isebrands before he died and she married Otto Swalve. She had a son, John, and two daughters, Annie and Sena, when she married Otto according to the 1925 Iowa Census.

Elsie’s obituary appeared on page 4 of the October 9, 1968 Buffalo Center Tribune, Buffalo Center, Iowa.

Rites for Mrs. Swalve Held Tuesday, Oct. 7

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Swalve, 79, of Estherville were held Tuesday afternoon, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at Estherville. She had passed away the previous Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital atEstherville. Interment was in Ramsey Reformed Church cemetery at Titonka.

Survivors include eight daughters, Mrs. Vinal Bebo, Mrs. Vern Barlow, Mrs. Harold Selberg and Mrs. Harry Schroeder all of Estherville, Mrs. Charles Kline of Chatfield, Minnesota, Mrs. Richard Williams of North Bend, Oregon, Mrs. ForrestMcGregor of Bancroft and Mrs. Frances Beitz of Algona; and seven sons, Andrew Swalve of Bricelyn, Ellsworth of LeMars, Evert of Kiester, Richard of Graettinger and Otto, Roy and John Isebrand all of Estherville. Also surviving are 42grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, two sisters Mrs. (Hermena) Ubbe Winter and Mrs. (Dena) Ray Wentworth of Buffalo Center, and one brother, John Sleper of Titonka.

She was born April 17, 1890 in Germany and came to America in 1892. She was educated in Buffalo Center. February 22, 1912 she was married to Carl Isebrand at Titonka. He passed away in 1917 and she was married to Otto J. Swalve February26, 1919 at Titonka. They farmed in the Ledyard, German Valley and Wallingford areas moving to Estherville in 1941 where Mr. Swalve passed' away in 1942.
