"Sena McGregor

Sena McGregor, age 100, of Buffalo Center, died Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ramsey Reformed Church, in Titonka with Pastor Mark Ellens presiding. Interment will be at the Ramsey Reformed Cemetery. [Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Winter Chapel, Buffalo Center.]

Sena Carline (Isebrand) McGregor was born on a farm by Titonka on May 8, 1917 to Elsie Sleper and Carl Isebrand. Later the family moved to a farm near Ledyard, where she attended Ledyard Consolidated School. She was one of fifteen children. On March 14, 1939 she married Forrest McGregor in Fairmont, MN. They lived most of their married life on a farm near Bancroft. Upon retirement, the couple moved to their home in Buffalo Center. They enjoyed many years of wintering in Texas with family and friends. Sena became a resident of Timely Mission, Buffalo Center in August of 2012.

Sena, Forrest, and their four children were long time members of Ramsey Reformed Church. Sena was an active member of the Esther Circle. Her family and friends were important to her. Sena never wanted to be in the limelight. If you were a relative or friend, you learned she was quiet, thoughtful, and caring.

Sena enjoyed crocheting. Many people own scrubbers that she made from nylon net and sold for 50 cents each. She and Forrest were accomplished rug makers, weaving rugs from used material and denim jeans. They would often come home to find a bag of material by the back door. She also enjoyed Christmas with all of the decorations and baking that goes along with it. For many years her mother, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews would celebrate Christmas and the 4th of July at her home on the farm.

Sena is survived by: her children, Roger (Barbara) McGregor of Boone, Marjorie (Carter) Crittenden of Atlanta, daughter-in-law, Donnette McGregor of Sioux Falls and Carol (Dale) Heitland of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Monica (Dan) Huyser of Ames, Suzanne (Clay) James of Phoenix, John Crittenden of Atlanta, Jeffrey (Sherri) McGregor of Sioux Falls, Joel (Rebecca) McGregor of Sioux Falls, Jeremy (Michelle) McGregor of Tea, Jennifer (Steve) Hirsch of Sioux Falls, Kendra (Eric) Amundson of Leland, and Kayla (Brian) Meredith of Kansas City; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Andrew (Rozella) Estherville; sisters, Elsie Selberg of Mason City, Ada Williams of Estherville, Leona Kleine of Princeton, MN; and sisters-in-law, Betty Swalve of LeMars; special friends, Karyl and Becky Anderson of Alabaster, AL, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest in 2013; son, Vernon in 1991; parents; brother, Roy, Richard, John, Evert, Otto, and Ellsworth; sisters, Frances, Annie, Tillie and Anita.
