"Maggie Sleeper was born on July 29, 1892 near Ramsey Reformed Church in Kossuth County. She was the first child of Evert J. and Antje (Kruitoff) Sleeper to be born in the United States."

"On February 21, 1923 she married Henry Ralph Janssen and moved to a farm near Titonka. In 1928 they were living on a Wagner farm where lightning struck the barn and burned 13 cows along with harness and a nearby crib."

"On February 17, 1929, they became parents of a daughter, Harriet. In the spring of 1930 Henry scratched his leg and developed blood poison and double pneumonia, from which he died on July 2, 1930. Pete Voogd then came to work forMaggie. In February of 1931 Maggie had a farm sale and moved back with her mother, Mrs. Evert J. Sleeper."
