March 23, 1922 - June 12, 2016

Funeral services for Margie Boyken were held Wednesday June 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheral Church in Titonka with Pastors S. Kim and Trudy A. Peterson officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheral Church Cemetery.

Margie Etta (Bruns) Boyken was born on March 23, 1922 to Fred & Tena (Franzen) Bruns at their farm home in German Township, Kossuth County. She was baptized on April 30 and confirmed her faith on April 11, 1937. She attended country school and one year at the Titonka High School.

She was united in marriage to Elmer William Boyken on October 9, 1947, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Titonka. Elmer and Margie moved to the Boyken home place and farmed there until 1988, when Elmer and Margie retired and moved to Titonka.

Margie grew up helping farm with her father Fred and after marriage helped farm alongside her husband, Elmer, while raising 3 boys. She was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was involved with many church activities including the ALCW. Her hobbies included gardening, counted cross stitching, quilting and her love of baking cutout cookies, pies and cinnamon rolls.

Margie became a resident of the Titonka Care Center in January 2011. She became an avid reader and enjoyed the many activities at the Care Center especially Bingo. She passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City at the age of 94.

Margie is survived by her three sons, Arvid (Sheri), Gary (Diane) and Eldean (Debby). Also surviving are six grandchildren Amber Parcel (Dan), Daniel Boyken (Niki), Stephanie Anderson (Josh), Ashley Guth (Eric), Victoria Boyken (fiancé Jon Van Drunen), Kyle Boyken and three step-grandchildren, Jeremy Walker (Kayla), Paul Walker(Ashley) and Brad Culbertson (Terese). Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Brianna Parcel, Ethan Boyken, Kaleb and Makayla Anderson and Isaac and Gideon Guth; seven step-great-grandchildren Natalie, Levi and Blake Walker, Aiden and Carter Walker and Avery and Hailey Culbertson. Also surviving are many cousins and friends.

Margie was preceded in death by her infant brothers Leonard and Frederick Bruns Jr.; her parents, and her husband, Elmer on October 14, 2000.
