Funeral services for 89 year old Tena Bruns will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 2 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Trudy Peterson officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery with Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf FuneralHome in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers are Arvid Boyken, Gary Boyken, Eldean Boyken, Henry Ullmann, Floyd Ullmann and Ray Franzen.

Tena F. (Franzen) Gruns was born May 18 1897 on a farm near Titonka, Iowa to Frank and Tena (DeBoer) Franzen. She was baptized in 1897 by Rev. Diekhoff and confirmed on March 16, 1913 by Rev. August G. Wellner. She received hereducation in the Titonka rural school system.

She was united in marriage to Fred Bruns on February 24, 1921 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural titonka. The couple farmed near there until they retired in 1948 and moved to Titonka.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed cooking, flowers and handwork.

She had been a resident of the Titonka Care Center since March of 1984. Tena passed away Tuesday morning September 30 at the St. Jospeh [sic] Mercy Hospital, Mason City at the age of 89.

She is survived by her daugher, Mrs. Elmer (Margie) Boyken of Buffalo Center; grandsons Arvid, Gary and Elden; 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Amandy Bruns and Mrs. Flora Ullmann, both of Titonka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, and 3 sisters." <>
