Funeral services for Joseph Boekelman, 79, of Titonka, were held Monday morning, August 31 at United Methodist Church in Titonka with Rev. Karl Schiltz officiating. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Titonka was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Buffalo Township Cemetery at Titonka with Military Rites conducted by Breen American Legion Post 465 and William F. Kennedy, VFW Post 4071 of Titonka. Mr. Boekelman died August 27, 1992 at Kossuth CountyHospital, Algona. ... Joseph Boekelman was born November 8,1912 in German township, rural Titonka, son of John and Maggie (Rippentrop) Boekelman. Joe grew up and attended rural school and worked 'on the family farm. He served his country during World War II inthe Army.

Edith Tieman was organist and Judy Junkermeier, vocalist, who sang "This Is My Song" and "The Hymn of Promise". The congregation joined in singing "How Great Thou Art".

Honorary casketbearers were grandchildren Jennifer McGreevey, Tom McGreevey, Stacy Boekelman, Christie McGreevey, Lisa Boekelman, Miranda Boekelman and Jace Boekelman. Active casketbearers were Kevin Sunken, Douglas Phelps, Ronald Boekelman, Norman Cooper, Harley Beenken and Jim Geitzenauer.

Joseph Boekelman was born November 8,1912 in German township, rural Titonka, son of John and Maggie (Rippentrop) Boekelman. Joe grew up and attended rural school and worked 'on the family farm. He served his country during World War II inthe Army.

Joe was married to Lois Graham on March 15, 1950 at Titonka. They lived in the Titonka area all their married life. Joe was active in his church and was a member of the Titonka VFW. He worked as a carpenter for John Isebrand and BobBecker. He also helped to build bank buildings for the Kirkgross Company out of Waterloo. Joe enjoyed working in the garden and also did woodworking. He loved to be with his children and his precious grandchildren. His friendly smilewill be missed by his many friends.

Joe is survived by his wife, Lois; his son, Calvin and wife, Sandy Boekelman of Algona; his daughter, Carol and husband, Denny McGreevey of Wesley; and by seven grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Mrs. Ben (Martha) Beenken and Mrs.Simon (Gertrude) Sunken, both of Titonka, and brothers, Heiko and Robert Boekelman, also of Titonka.
