"Robert Boekelman, 82

Funeral services for Robert W. Boekelman, 82, of Titonka were held Thursday, September 28, at 10:30 a.m. in the Titonka United Methodist Church with Pastor Robin Thomas officiating. Casketbearers were Calvin Boekelman, Terry Weringa,Craig Heyer, Harley Beenken, Nathan Sorenson and Brian Rippentrop. Honorary bearers were his grandchildren: Brock and Dana Cooper, Maggie Cooper, Amy and Chris Schommer, Jason and Michelle Vinsand and great-granddaughter, Amaya, AndreaVinsand, Jenna Vinsand, Janel Phelps and Scott Phelps. Interment was in Buffalo Township Cemetery with the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Titonka in charge of arrangements. Bob died on Monday, September 25, 2006 at theTitonka Care Center.

Robert William Boekelman was born on October 15, 1923, in German Township, near Titonka, Iowa, to John and Maggie Rippentrop Boekelman. He received his education at the German Township country school near Titonka. After his schooling,Bob helped his family on the farm. On February 10, 1947, Bob was married to Audrey Johnson at Rake.

Bob and Audrey farmed the home place north of Titonka until Bob's retirement in the fall of 2005.

Bob was an active member of the Titonka United Methodist Church, where he had been church trustee and was active in the Youth Mission Team, spending time for ten summers in Oklahoma on the Indian Reservations.

He enjoyed carpentry, bowling, pitching horseshoes and playing softball, when he was younger. His greatest enjoyment, however, was his family and he enjoyed watching his daughters and grandchildren participate in sports and otheractivities. Bob also drove a school bus for the Titonka School System for twenty years. He also drove the activity bus to most of the school activities and sporting events.

The family enjoyed the annual Johnson family reunion campouts, first held in Boone, Iowa and then in the grove on their farm.

Bob is survived by his wife, Audrey, of rural Titonka; and his three daughters, Nola Cooper husband, Norman, Titonka; Rhonda Vinsand and husband, Ronny, Humboldt, and Laura Phelps and husband, Doug, Titonka; eleven grandchildren and onegreat-granddaughter. Also surviving are his sister, Gertrude Sunken and husband Simon, Titonka; two sisters-in-law, Lois and Fern Boekelman, both of Titonka, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He was precededin death by his parents, two brothers, Joe and Heiko, and two sisters, Martha Beenken and an infant sister, Marie." <>
