Raymond Henry Franzen was born on September 28, 1927 in Titonka at the home of his parents, Herman and Johanna (Bruns) Franzen. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Titonka on October 30. 1927 and was confirmed there on March29, 1942. Raymond attended the German Township #7 school and then he farmed with his father, Herman, until he entered the U.S. Army on January 19, 1955 during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge on October 20, 1956, he returned hometo take over the family farm operation."

Anita Eden was the organist and soloist was Harris Sonnenberg. The congregation participated in the singing of a hymn. Honorary casketbearers were Arnold Brandt, Marlyn Franzen, Wardden Smidt, Harry Schutter, Wilbur Spear, Johnny Harms,Duane Higgins, and LeRoy Bruns. Casketbearers were Doug Culbertson, Rodney Isebrand, Bruce Culbertson, Darrell Isebrand, Greg Finer, Sherman Finer, John Kurtzleben, and David Isebrand.

Raymond was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a member of the Church Council, a member of the Men's Brotherhood, a past president of the Luther League and a Luther League sponsor. Ray enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, golfing and his many friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his precious grandchildren.
Ray died on Saturday, May 23, 1998 at the Titonka Care Center following a lingering illness.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Mary, of Titonka; two sons: Michael Alan -Fredrickson of Iowa Falls and Scott Marvin Fredrickson and his wife, Joan, of Yale; one daughter: Shelly Rae Kardocs and her husband, Tony, of Burt; fivegrandchildren: Daniel and Emily Fredrickson; Jamie. Nathan and Nicholas Kardoes; two sisters: Doris Isebrand and her husband, Morris, of Titonka; Margaret Finer and her husband, Dale, of Titonka; and a brother-in-law, Francis Culbertsonand his wife, Velma, of Titonka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Johanna (Bruns) Franzen; his first wife, Alice (Eden) Franzen and two sisters, Lois Franzen arid Dolores Culbertson."
