"John and Ann Groen Jr.
John Groen Jr., was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, on Sept. 15, 1883, to parents Jan and Remda Groen. The family immigrated to the United States in 1885, and in 1898 settled on a farm south of Lennox. There John attended Pleasant ViewSchool.
He married Anna Eiserman on Sept. 16, 1916, in Sioux Falls. Anna was born Jan. 5, 1886. Her parents were Carl and Amelia Eiserman, who lived south of Lennox. Anna attended rural school and lived at home until her marriage. She was aseamstress.
John and Anna farmed in Delaware Township for 33 years. The retired to Lennox in 1949.
Anna passed away on June 7, 1966, and John on Sept. 23, 1969."

"John Groen, Jr. was born in Ostfriesland, Germany on September 15, 1883 the son of Jan and Remda Groen. He came to the United States with his parents, settling on a farm southeast of Lennox. He attended Pleasant View school and grew tomanhood here.
On September 6, 1916 he was united in marriage to Anna Eiserman at Sioux Falls. They farmed south of Lennox for 33 years, retiring into Lennox in 1949. Mrs Groen preceded him in death in 1966.
Mr Groen passed away in a Sioux Falls Hospital on September 23, 1969 after suffering a heart attack the previous day. He attained the age of 86 years and eight days.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Mrs. Peter Murra; Mrs. Frank Johnke; and Mrs. H. E. Schneiderman; and three brothers: Harm, Peter and Heiko.
Survivors include four sisters: Mrs. Remda Wiebers, Mrs. Minnie White, Etta and Anna Groen all of Lennox and several nieces and nephews.
