Ramsey Church Rites Held Tuesday for Ben Heyes, 66

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, September 19, at 1:30 p.m. for Ben Heyes, 66, of Buffalo Center, at the Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka with the Rev. John Janssen officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mr.Heyes passed away at his farm home from a heart attack Saturday morning.

Active pallbearers were Herman Gruis, Walter Aukes, Donald Johnson, Ronald Ostermann, Gary Heyes and David Heyes. Honorary pallbearers were John Honken. George Heyer, Donald Joos, Ben Gruis. Fred Krull, Chris Pederson and Ted Aukes.Winter Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Ben Heyes was born on June 17, 1906 near Titonka, Iowa. He was a son of Dick and Lucy Ubben Heyes. He grew up in the German Valley area and attended the local schools. He made confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as personalSavior in 1924. On January 18, 1933, he was united in holy matrimony to Sylvia Abbas. To this marriage two children were born. They farmed together for 10 years in the Lakota area and for 30 years south of Buffalo Center. As a member ofthe Ramsey Reformed Church he had served as an elder on the consistory. Ben and Sylvia also served as workers in mission endeavor at Brewton, Alabama, the past few years during the winter months. He passed away suddenly on the farm onSeptember 16, 1972 attaining the age of 66 years, 2 months and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Icena, and a brother, Ubbe.

He is survived by his widow; two children Marvin Howard of Buffalo Center, and Mary Ellen (Mrs. Forrest Harms) of Alexander; seven grandchildren; one brother, Elzo, of Mason City; two sisters, Anna (Mrs. Carl Johnson) of Lakota; and GraceJohnson of Ledyard. Beside these he leaves many other relatives and friends who mourn his departure.
