Everet Ubben Passed Away Monday Morning

Prominent Farmer Near Town Victim of Appendicitis Following Operation

Evert Ubben of Buffalo township who has lived for many years on his farm one and one-half miles north of town, died last Monday morning after a weeks illness following an operation for appendicitis. He had not been feeling well for aweek and it was not until last Thursday that his condition was considered serious.

On that date Dr. Sartor and Dr. Wallace of Algona held a consultation and notified his wife and relatives that they considered an operation necessary in order to save his life. Some time after noon of the same day Drs. Sartor of Titonka,Wallace of Algona and Divine of Bancroft were called and the operation performed. Two nurses were in attendance from the time of the operation until his demise. Everything possible that could be done, was done. He continued to growworse from day to day, until Monday morning when he passed away surrounded by his relatives and friends.

Evert Ubben was born September 17, 1882 on a farm near Ackley, Grundy County. In the year 1892 he came with his parents to German Township and settled on what was then known as the Pete Johnson farm. On March 12th, at the age of thirtyyears he was married to Miss Anna DeBoer. He later purchased a farm on his own located east of the Brandt section where he has since made his home. During the past sixteen years he and his wife have worked hard and being thrifty, havelaid away plenty of this world's goods. In recent years they have re-modeled their home and had every thing up-to-date so that they could round out a ripe old age with ease. Coming so suddenly the death of Evert Ubben, a man who a fewdays ago, was in the prime of his life, seemingly strong and healthy, honored and revered, a friend to every one, cast a gloom over the town and among the people who knew him. At the time of his death he was 44 years 8 months and 3 daysof age. He leaves to mourn, his devoted wife, aged father, Ubbe Ubben, three brothers, namely, Herman of Titonka, Fred of Lakota, Peter of Titonka and one sister, Mrs. Lucy Heyes of Lakota, tow of his sisters, Mrs. Ruth Harkens and Mrs.Minnie De Boer and his mother preceded him to the grave. Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, from the German Reformed church of German township, of which he was a member, conducted by Rev. G. Haken, pastor of the church, at1:00 o'clock from the home, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. The [Titonka] Topic family extends sympathy to the bereaved wife and family in their sorrow."
