BUFFALO CENTER, Iowa - Services for Marvin H. Heyes, 71, of Buffalo Center will be 10:30 a.m. today at First Congregational Church, Buffalo Center. Burial will be in Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center.

Heyes died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. at First Congregational Church, Buffalo Center, and one hour prior to services at the church. Winter Funeral and Cremation Service, Buffalo Center, is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include: wife, Beverly; sons, Gary of Satellite Beach, Fla., David of Minocqua, Wis., Craig of Merrimack, N.H., and Paul of Savage, Minn.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; sister, Mary Harms of West Des Moines.

"Marvin Heyes, 71

Funeral services for Marvin H. Heyes, 71, were held Tuesday, October 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church with Pastor David Langer officiating. Music was furnished by Roger and Jan Missman, and Duane Feldick. Honorarybearers were Frances Bruhns, Lee Griffin, Herb Pannkuk, Denny Rustemier, Arnold Dontje, Burdette Hoeppner, Cal Rippentrop and Larry Weaver. Casket bearers were Randy Harms, Allen Harms, Roger Pajunen, Ron Cramer, Kenneth Knight and JonStensland. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery with Winter Funeral Home of Buffalo Center in charge of arrangements. Marv passed away on Friday, October 27 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Marvin Howard Heyes was born July 21, 1935 in Buffalo Center to Ben and Sylvia (Abbas) Heyes. He started school in Lakota. In 1943 his parents bought a farm in Grant Township and he attended country school and graduated from BuffaloCenter High School in 1952. After graduation he went to DeVries Electronic Technical School in Chicago and returned to Buffalo Center and worked for Jensvold's TV & Appliance.

Marvin was united in marriage to Beverly Miller on June 19, 1955 in Delavan, Minnesota. In 1957 he started his own business. As the business grew, Marv and Bev moved their business to the present location of the Buffalo Center library. After his father's death in 1972, he farmed the family farm until 1999. Because of health reasons, he retired from the business in March 2003.

He was an active member of the First Congregational Church for 51 years. He was a Sunday School teacher and served as Trustee and Deacon for many years. He was active in Community Club and served on the City Council for 12 years. Heserved on the Buffalo Center Development Corporation and Bison Limited boards. He enjoyed traveling and family vacations. He loved people, his family and grandchildren were very special to him.

Marv is survived by his wife Beverly; his four sons: Gary and his wife, Laurie, of Satellite Beach, Florida; David and his wife, Paula, of Minocqua, Wisconsin; Craig and his wife, Linda, of Merrimack, New Hampshire; and Paul and his wife,Joan, of Savage, Minnesota; his seven grandchildren: Jane, Jeff, Brittney, Lesleigh, Drew, Corey, and Callie; two step-grandchildren, Amanda and Adam; and one step great-grandson Dayton. Also by his sister, Mary Harms, and her husband,Forrest, of West Des Moines, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Clara Miller, sisters-in-law Joyce Knight, Elizabeth Cramer, Marilyn Stensland and a brother-in-law George Miller; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by hisparents and grandparents."
