Delavan: Funeral services for Freeda Abbas, 97, Delevan, were held Tuesday, June 4, at the United Methodist Church in Delavan. Burial was in Bass Lake Cemetery in rural Winnebago.

Mrs. Abbas died Saturday afternoon, June 1, 1991, at the United Hospital in Blue Earth. Visitation was Monday at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Freeda Alma Nelson was born July 7, 1893, to Carl and Elizabeth (Post) Nelson, at Lakota, Iowa. She was married to Hillard Abbas, on Sept. 13, 1911 at Lakota. They moved to the Delavan area in 1934, where they farmed. Mr. Abbas died in1970. She was a member of of the UMW and Farm Bureau.

She is survived by three sons, Walter Abbas, Delavan, Arthur Abbas, Winnebago, and Ernest Abbas, New Ulm; six daughters, Mrs. Silvia Heyes, and Anna and husband, Steve Tjaden, all of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Elsie and husband, William Purdy,Lancaster, Calif.; Betty and her husband, William Whitney Jr., and Margie and husband, Charles Wallace, all of Delavan, and Gloria and her husband, Don Purdie, Glenville, Minn.; 33 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; and sevengreat-great-grandchildren.

Hillard Abbas and Freida Nelson of this place were married Wednesday at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson. Rev. Arends of the Presbyterian church performed the ceremony. We, with their many friends, wish them along and happy life in their new home.
