"Arvil W. Winter, 89 Funeral services for Arvil W. Winter, 89, were held Tuesday, March 29 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, Minnesota at 11:00 a.m. Pastor John Otte officiated. Special music was provided by Pat McCleary. Honarary casketbearers were Melanie Garvick, Karen Lehmann, Dale Anderson, Stephanie Winter, Vivan Arndt, Randy Wilkens and Dan Hiller. In memory bearers were Mark Hagedorn and Mike Espeland. Casketbearers were Bob Espeland, R.J. McCarthy, BiranEspeland, Tim Winter, Jeff Espeland and Bobbe Garvick. Intermant was in Riverside Cemetery at Blue Earth. Arvil passed away at his home surronded by loved ones on Thursday, March 24, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with merklecell carcinoma. Winter Funeral Home in Blue Earth was in charge of arrangements.

Arvil Wayne Winter, son of Warner (William) and Gertie (Sleper) Winter, was born in Buffalo Center on October 31, 1915. He lived on the family farm near Buffalo Center until he was nine years old, when the family moved to a farm nearPrescott township. He went to rural school near Delavan and worked in the family farm.

On November 29, 1937, he was wed to Evelyn Alilce Hiller in Brownton, Minnesota. Their union was blessed wiht three children. He worked at Lamperts Lunberyard, Green Giant and did custom combining. In 1942, Arvil and Evelyn moved totheir own farm, and he had been farming ever since then.

Arvil was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Blue Earth, where he was a member and served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Faribault County Historical Society. Arvil and Evelyn enjoyedcollecting antiques (especially cars), going to flea markets and taking trips.

Arvil is survived by his wife Evelyn (Hiller); two daughters: Sharon McCarthy and significant other, Roger Peterson; Marlys Winter; one son, David Winter; seven grandchildren: Bob, Brian, Jeff and his wife, Lon Espeland; RJ and his wife, Annie, McCarthy; Melanie and her husband, Bobby Garvick; Tim Winter and Stephanie Winter; seven great-grandchildren: Rachel, Kallie, JT and Spencer Espeland, Makalia and Harley Garvick; Sage Winter; one brother, Cecil Winter, and his wife Lurene; one sister-in-law, Alice Winter; special friends, Mary and Jerry Swanson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henry and Bernard Winter; two sisters, and infant and Geraldine Armstrong; one daughter-in-law, Karen Winter; and one grandson, Michael Espeland."
