Mervin Bruns was born in German Township, rural Titonka, Iowa. He is the youngest son of Ewald F. Bruns and Elizabeth (Tjaden) Bruns. Mervin married Alice Sweet.

Alice Sweet was born in Emerald Township, Blue Earth, Minnesota to Donald and Berneice (Ehich) Sweet.

Mervin and Alice live on the family farm home place, where Mervin was born and raised. It is located three and one half miles northeast of Titonka. The house is the original house built in 1922 by Mervin's grandfather, Heiko Bruns.

Mervin and Alice are parents of two daughters, Jolene and Lori and one son, Kevin.

"Funeral Services Held Tuesday for Ewald F. Bruns

Funeral services for Ewald F. Bruns, 78, retired farmer of Tltonka, were held Tuesday, February 29, at 1:30 p.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka with the Rev. Herbert Hanson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Born January 10, 1893 at Titonka, he was the son of Heito and Margarethe Bruns. He was married March 15, 1922 to Elizabeth Tjaden at Titonka.

Surviving are a son, Mervin Bruns, and a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Frances) Steinberg, both of Titonka; six grandchildren; two brothers, Fred and Heito Bruns, both of Titonka, and three sisters, Mrs. Stephen Tjaden, Mrs. Herman Franzen andMrs. John Schutter all of Titonka.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, a son, a brother and two sisters."

"Mervin H. Bruns, 65

Funeral services for Mervin H. Bruns. 65, of Titonka were held Thursday, August 15 at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka. Pastor James Berka officiated. Casketbearers were Eric Anderson, Bruce Steinberg, Jade Sweet, JonathanAnderson, Galyn Steinberg and David Wedel. Interment was in the church cemetery. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mervin passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester,Minnesota.

Mervin Heiko Bruns, son of Ewald and Elizabeth (Tjaden) Bruns, was born on the family farm in German Township on December 28, 1936. He grew up in German Township and attended country school and high school at Titonka. He married AliceSweet at Blue Earth, Minnesota on June 3, 1960. He had a great passion for fanning. He was raised and lived on the family century farm until his death. He loved spending time with his family, going fishing, doing woodworking, reading,traveling, 'and bird watching.

Mervin is survived by his wife, Alice, of Titonka; three children: Jolene and Anthony Asa of Kalispell, Montana; Lori Ruhnke of Billings, Montana; Kevin and his wife, Dawn, Bruns of Mason City; seven grandchildren; a sister, FrancesSteinberg of Titonka. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Wilda Bruns, and a brother. Harold Bruns." <>
