In the year 1903, he with his parents and the other children of the family, came to America, settling at Kamrar, Iowa. In this vicinity he resided until his mariage in 1918.

On March 6, 1918, he was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Huisman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Folkert Huisman, with Rev. C. V. Pence of Webster City performing the ceremony. this happy union God blessed with nine children, viz: Richard,Vernon, Lester, Alvin, Arlene, Lois, Dorothy, Lloyd and Garry.

After their marriage the young couple moved to the vicinity of Titonka. For three years they resided west of Titonka, the next seventeen years wre spent on the Mrs. Mary Bruns farm north of Titonka, and since 1936 they resided on their present farm. ...
