Notes about Klaas Huisman

Klaas Huisman

Source: Welsh, Patrick, Naber_Troff.ged, (Pub. location unknown, PW, 12 Mar 2005) for first & last names, date of birth, county of birth, date of death, & town of death.

Mr. Welsh offers 'Ackley, Grundy County, Iowa' as place of death; however, Ackley is in Hardin Co., IA. Possibly Klaas died at a farm home 'near' the town of Ackley, but on the Grundy County side of the county line. Possibly Klaas lived on a farm in Grundy County but was taken to a facility within the Ackley town limits in Hardin County where he died. It is my hypothesis that the individual who originally provided the information is conflating the area served by the United States post office in Ackley with the actual town itself. This is a very common error I find when reading obituaries and other sources regarding individuals living in farming communities. Even the legal death certificate might defer to the United States post office area of service rather than name the township where the event acturally occurred. - D.A.
