Folkart Huisman is the son of Tjark Janssen Franken and Janna Folkerts Poppen. Adopted by Klaas Kryns Huisman. Born in Riepe, Germany. Married Gretje "Grace" Naber on March 4, 1883 in Ackley, Grundy County, Iowa. Parents of Klass, George, Grace, Jennie, Anna, Meint, Sadie, William, Samuel, and Meint Huisman.

Mr. Folkart Huisman, for more than 40 years a resident of Kamrar and vicinity and one of the widely known and most highly esteemed men of that community, died Thursday morning of last week at 8:30 o'clock, at his home. He had been in ill health for several years, had suffered several light strokes, his death being due to hardening of the arteries and apoplexy. At the time of his passing he was 76 years, 4 months and 19 days of age.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock at the German Presbyterian church, A. L. Fleenor in charge. The pastor, Rev. Mr. Sinning, officiated and interment was in the German Presbyterian cemetery. At the service songs were sung by a mixed quartette, and those serving as pall bearers were: Ben Michaelson, John Middents, Ben Cordes, Ben Van Langen, O. L. Gilbert and Klaus Rigter.

Folkart Huisman, son of Klaus and Janna Huisman, was born at Riepe, Germany, September 26, 1857, and died at Kamrar, Iowa, February 15, 1934. He came to America in 1866, 68 years ago, coming with his parents to Grundy county, Iowa. In the year 1893 he moved to Hamilton county, locating on his farm east of Kamrar where he lived until in the year 1918 when he moved to town, in Kamrar.

He was married to Gretje Nabor in Grundy county in the year 1883. To this union 10 children were born, one of whom died in infancy. His wife and nine children survive him, the children being: George, of Kamrar, Mrs. H. Grau [Gray] of Titonka, Mrs. G. Naber [Nabor] of Lake Lillian, Minn., Mrs. Conrad Heyer of Jewell, Mint of Kambijolis, Minn., Mrs. Arnold Grau [Gray] of Titonka, Willie of Kamrar, Sam of Hillsdale, Wisc., and Klaus of Kamrar. He is also survived by 53 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; one brother, K. Huisman of Ackley, Ia.; and one sister, Mrs. C. Janssen, of Aplington, Iowa.

Mr. Huisman was a man of fine character, integrity and industry, a good friend and neighbor. His memory will be long cherished by a host of friends in the community where he lived so long.
