"Nuptial, vows were spoken on Monday, May 6, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lester Gray home at Buffalo Center, uniting in marriage Carol STelsyne Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thompson of Buffalo Center, and A/3C Lonnie Lee Gray, sonof Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gray. The double ring ceremony was read in the presence of the immediate families by the Rev. John Ailts of Ellsworth,.Minnesota, an uncle of the groom.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, was attired in a light blue cotton batiste dress, trimmed in white lace, and carried a bouquet of white carnations.
The maid of honor was Evelyn Thompson, sister of the bride. Her dress 'consisted of a blue and white polished cotton,- and she wore a corsage of white carnations.
A luncheon was given after the ceremony for 20 guests by the groom's parents. A 4-tier wedding cake, made by the ' aunt of the groom, Mrs. Vernon Gray of Corwith, was cut and served by Mrs. Honno Ailts of Emmetsburg, an aunt of thegroom.
The bride and groom both attended the Buffalo Center Community School and are 1962 graduates.
A/3C Gray is currently stationed at Good Fellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas where the couple will be making their home as soon as suitable living quarters are obtained." <>

"Lonnie Lee Gray ... Gray, Lonnie Lee of Surprise, AZ, passed peacefully on Sept. 7, 2015, following a valiant battle with Alzheimer's and subsequent stroke. He was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Bancroft, Iowa, to Lester and Ilene ltes Gray. He jokingly said, 'I escaped the farm'after graduating from Buffalo Center High School and joined the US Air Force. He served 20 years around the world including Germany, Turkey, and the Philippines with his first wife, Carol Thompson of Buffalo Center, IA. He retired out ofMountain Home Air Base in 1983. He joined the Idaho State Police as Operations Manager for the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI), and was Bureau Chief for Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) upon retirement. He took up golf, rapidlycarrying a single digit handicap, and met the 'love of his life', Cathrine Reed. They married Oct 30, 1999 after a surprise proposal on the floating green at the Coeur d'Alene Resort. They loved golfing together and belonged to thePlantation Golf Club. Following his Alzheimer's diagnosis in 2002, he spent time in Las Vegas and in 2005 they moved to AZ. Lonnie will be remembered for his fun loving, light hearted spirit, warm smile, and generosity. He took greatpride in his work and excelled at several sports. He was a devoted, loving husband to Cathy, and they shared many happy years together. He is survived by his wife, Cathrine May Reed, daughter Kristina Marie (Kurt) Bayless of Arnold, MO,son Jeremy Lee Gray, brothers, David (Sandra) Gray of Desert Hot Springs, CA., Paul (Dorothy) Gray of Oelwein, lA, and Arnie (Robyn) of Forest City, lA, granddaughters, Jennifer Erin Brown (Bryant Blackwell, fiancee), Taylor and PaigeArmstrong, step-sons Ronald (Patricia) Reed, of New York, Jeffrey (Rakel) Reed of Kentfield, CA, and step-granddaughter, Sophie, step-grandsons Ethan, Filip and Felix. He was a proud great-grandfather (G3) to Jennifer's children, BrettHoffeditz and Paisley Blackwell. He is further survived by many other family members and friends who will miss him terribly. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Tammy Sue (Mike) Brown, his sister Susan Kay (Harley)Hassebroek, sister-in-law Jean Simpson (Paul) Gray, parents, and others.
