"Rites For Theo. Smith Held Monday

Funeral services held for the late Theo. Smith at the Congregational church Monday afternoon, were largely attended by relatives and friends.

Mr. Smith, who had been in poor health for several years, contracted bronchial pneumonia and passed away Wednesday evening, January 25, 1939 at the State hospital.

Theodore Smith was born June 20, 1911, in Kossuth County, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, living five miles northwest of Buffalo Center.

On October 5, 1930, he was united in marriage to Miss Lola Liebrand, and to this union was born one son.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and son Marvin Russell, his parents, and one brother Raymond. A sister, Margaret, preceded him in death.

Rev. D. Farrington had charge of the services, and burial was made in Graceland cemetery north of town.

Pallbearers were his school mates, Alvin Sohn, Paul Mastin, Leo Johnson, Ralph Mastin, Gordon Johnson, Adrain Hauskins.

Gone is the light that shone so fair, Gone from the earth of sorrow and care Missing those hands that did their best Gone, dear son and brother! Gone to rest. Forgotten, to the world by some may be, But dear in our memory you will always be. Your cheery smile and kindly ways Are pleasant to recall; You had a kind word for every one, And died beloved to all. We mourned for him in silence, No eyes can see us weep; But many a silent tear is shed While others are asleep.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the services were: H. Alberts, B. Alberts and Milton Hanna of Woden; Ted Smith and Glen Fure of Scarville; John Lamping and Louis Olson of Thompson; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sprung and Mrs. LeslieButton of Riceville; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Milbrandt and Lois Ann of Mclntire; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Warrington of Little Cedar; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reitter of Britt; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Milbrandt and son of Elmore, Minnesota. <>
