Notes about Jennie Dykstra

Jennie Dykstra was born in 1904 in Sully, Jasper C., Iowa. She is the first of nine brothers and sisters. In the Census 1910 Jennie, her parents Chas and Elizabeth and siblings were living at a rented Farm in rural Richmond. In 1915 and 1920the family was living at a farm in Rock Creek Township, Jasper C., Iowa.
Jennie married November 24, 1927 Clifford Washington Baldwin (1908) in Jasper County. Clifford (farm laborer) and Jennie lived in Beaver, Polk C., Iowa. They had a son Elmer Charles (1928).
Clifford and Jennie divorced in 1929 and in the Census 1930 Jennie and her son Elmer live in Poweshiek, Jasper C., Iowa with the family Ovedyk. She is housekeeper and servant for two Dutch brothers.

July 31, 1937 Jennie married in Tipton Iowa Daniel/Danial Roy Barnes (1904). His parents are William Elmer Barnes and Nancy Maria Comstock. Daniel was then (track extra gang) laborer on the railroad and later a section foreman. In the Census of 1940the family lives in Benton Township, Benton, Iowa. Danial (35) is a hired hand of Charles E. Grunewald and lives with Jennie (36), his daughter Dorothy L (8) and his stepson Elmer (12) at the same adress as Charles.
In 1945 their son William Earl is born. Eighteen years later Daniel, Jennie and William were found dead in their appartement. They died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
