David Dykstra was born in November 1916 in or near the former town of Turner in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County, Iowa, the eighth of nine children of Chas Dykstra and Elizabeth Moes. In January 1920 David Dykstra (3 years old, born in Iowa), his father Charles Dykstra (46, stock farmer), mother Elibeath (36), and siblings Jennie (16), Bert (15), Cobus (13, Iowa), Clara (11), Dora (10), Cyrus (8, Iowa), Elizabeth (5, Iowa) were still livinginRock Creek Township, Jasper County, Iowa.
In April 1930 David Dykstra (13), his father Chas Dykstra (56, farmer), mother Elizabeth (46), and siblings Cye (18, farm laborer), Elizabeth (17) and Rose Ellen (7, Iowa) were living at a rented farm in Clear Creek Township, Jasper County and about30 miles northwest of Pella, Iowa.
On November 23, 1937 farmer David F Dykstra, born in Turner [a former town in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County] in Iowa, married in his residence place Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa at the age of 22 years the three years younger Mildred A Noll, bornin Buchanan, Cedar County, Iowa, and daughter of August Noll and Elizabel Pearl Birch. Witnesses to the marriage were his sister Rose Ellen Dykstra and Paul Noll.
In April 1940 David Dykstra (23, Iowa, farmer) and his wife Mildred (20, Iowa) were living at a rented farm in Center Township, Cedar County, located in the eastern part of Iowa. Right next to them his father Chas Dykstra (66, farmer), mother Elizabeth (55) and brother Bert (35, single, farmer) were living at a rented farm too. In 1935 they all lived in Cedar County too, but in another house at a rural place.

David F. Dykstra died in August 1988 at the age of 71 years in the city of Aurora.
