Notes about Cyrus Silas Cye Dykstra

In January 1920 Cyrus Dykstra (8 years old, born in Iowa), his father Charles Dykstra (46, Holland, stock farmer), mother Elibeath (Holland, 36), and siblings Jennie (16, Iowa), Bert (15, Iowa), Cobus (13, Iowa), Clara (11, Iowa), Dora (10, Iowa), Elizabeth (5, Iowa) and David (3, Iowa) were living in Rock Creek Township [postoffice Turner, a former town], located about 25 miles northeast of Pella and 10 miles north of the city of Sully, Jasper County, in the center of Iowa.

In April 1930 Cye Dykstra (18, farm laborer), his father Chas Dykstra (56, farmer), mother Elizabeth (46), and siblings Elizabeth (17), David (13) and Rose Ellen (7, Iowa) were living at a rented farm in Clear Creek Township, located in the far northwest corner of Jasper County and about 30 miles northwest of Pella, Iowa.

On June 1934 farmer Cyrus Dykstra, born in Colfax, Jasper County, was united in marriage at the age of 23 yeas to the one year younger Jonia Baldwin, born in Mingo, on her parent's farm, located northwest of the small city of Mingo, about 20 miles northeast of Des Moines, Jasper County, Iowa. Witnesses were his brother David Dykstra and Lucylle Baldwin.
In March 1942 they adopted a son, Arlen Ross Dykstra.
Cye Dykstra died in February 1944 at the age of 32 years. His widow Ionia died in July 2007 at the age of 94 years at her home in Cambridge, the capital of Iowa.
