David Mozes de Lange is de tweede zoon van Jaap de Lange en Elisabeth de Lange. Hij werd op 19 mei 1933 geboren. Met zijn ouders en zijn oudere broer Mozes woonde David in een huis aan de Achterweg (wijk A 206) in Raalte. David ging net als zijn broer naar de Openbare Lagere Dorpsschool in Raalte. Klasgenoot Eppe Jansen uit Raalte weet zich te herinneren dat David rood haar had. De pastoor in Raalte vond dat maar vreemd en vertelde David dat rood haar niet bij een joodse jongen paste. David vertelde hem toen dat “er een andere bok bij was geweest”. Het hoofd van de pastoor werd na dit antwoord net zo rood als het haar van David!

Op 2 oktober 1942 is David de Lange samen met zijn moeder en broer naar kamp Westerbork gebracht in een veewagen. Daar was vader Jaap de Lange inmiddels ook gearriveerd. Hij was al eerder opgepakt en in een joods werkkamp bij Hummelo aan het werk gezet. Een week later, op 9 oktober is het gezin gedeporteerd naar Auschwitz. Waarschijnlijk is David samen met zijn moeder en broer direct vanuit de trein doorgestuurd naar de gaskamer. David de Lange is slechts 9 jaar oud geworden.
