Jacob de Lange was getrouwd met Elisabeth de Lange. Het echtpaar had twee zonen, David Mozes en Mozes David. Het gezin woonde aan de Achterweg in Raalte. Jacob de Lange werd in augustus 1942 geplaatst in één van de joodse werkkampen, Westenbrink bij Hummelo. Op 2 oktober 1942 werd hij via Arnhem naar het kamp Westerbork overgebracht. Op dezelfde dag werden zijn echtgenote en hun twee zonen naar Westerbork vervoerd. Vandaar zijn de vier gezinsleden naar Auschwitz op transport gesteld.

Jacob de Lange werd op 8 maart 1898 geboren in Raalte als zoon van Mozes de Lange en Rosa de Lange. De roepnaam van Jacob was Jaap en omdat hij heel mager was, werd hij ook wel Bot genoemd. Het gezin de Lange was een groot gezin. Jaap had vijf broers en vijf zussen; Izak, Elisabeth, Vrouwtje, Mietje, Gerrit, Jozef, Rosa, Hartog, Sara en Mozes.
Jaap de Lange trouwde met Elisabeth de Lange eveneens uit Raalte en het paar kreeg twee kinderen. Mozes werd geboren in 1931 en David in 1933. De familie woonde aan de Achterweg in Raalte (Wijk A nummer 206).

Jaap de Lange werd op 27 augustus 1942 te werk gesteld in het joodse werkkamp Westenbrink bij Hummelo. Op 2 oktober 1942 is hij met de andere mannen uit het kamp via Arnhem naar kamp Westerbork overgebracht. Net als de meeste gevangenen van kamp Westerbork verblijft Jaap de Lange maar kort in het kamp. Op 9 oktober 1942 wordt hij namelijk naar het Oosten gedeporteerd. Het transport van 9 oktober heeft als eindbestemming Auschwitz. Na een aantal maanden in dat kamp is Jacob de Lange uiteindelijk op 31 januari 1943 in Auschwitz omgebracht. Hij was toen 44 jaar.
