    Sjaak de Lange was veehandelaar en hij woonde bij zijn ouders aan de Brugstraat 169 in Wijk A. Begin 1941 komt er een aanmeldingsplicht voor personen van geheel of gedeeltelijk joodsche bloede . Uit een bewaard gebleven document blijkt dat Sjaak op 15 februari 1941 een aanmeldingsbewijs voor 1 gulden heeft betaald. Op 24 juni 1942 raakt Sjaak zijn fiets kwijt. Joden moeten hun fiets verplicht inleveren en Sjaak levert die dag zijn herenrijwiel van het merk Atlanta in.

    Uit een brief van de chef van het bevolkingsregister van kamp Westerbork aan de burgemeester van Raalte blijkt dat Saul de Lange op 18 december 1942 in kamp Westerbork verblijft. Op 31 december wordt dit gegeven nogmaals bevestigd. Op 16 februari 1943 wordt Sjaak de Lange dan vanuit kamp Westerbork gedeporteerd naar Auschwitz. Waarschijnlijk wordt hij daar eerst geselecteerd voor werk.
