Notes about Maria Rosalina "Roos" Gerits

Op de lagere school zat zij twee leerjaren in de klas waar haar zus Lies onderwijzeres was, en dat is, zo vertelde zijzelf, haar niet in de koude kleren gaan zitten. Zij heeft na de lagere school verder geen onderwijs genoten. Zij moest thuis blijven om haar moeder in huis en in de tuin te helpen. Wel heeft zij nog ooit twee weken gewerkt in een kruidenierswinkel die lag op de hoek van de Hoofdstraat en het Gouverneur Baron van Hövellplein in Hoensbroek (direct nabij het kasteel). Tegen de tijd dat zij zou gaan trouwen, heeft zij een avondcursus bij de zusters "bie 't Kruts" aan de Mater Amabilisschool gevolgd, om het huishouden te leren.
