"Alfa Hertzke

Alfa Hertzke, 95 of Fairmont, MN, formerly of Lakota, died on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Lutz Wing-Mayo Health Systems, Fairmont. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lakota,with Rev. Lynn J. Noel officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

Alfa Eileen Sleper was born on March 29, 1920 in Hayfield, IA to Everett and Andera (Hauskin) Sleper. She attended school in Lakota. Alfa did housework for other families in the area.

On December 1, 1938, Alfa was united in marriage to Otto Paul Hertzke at the parsonage at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lakota. She was a homemaker and continued to do housekeeping for others. In the fall of the year, she worked at thecanning factory in Blue Earth. Alfa taught ceramics and enjoyed helping at the flower shop. She enjoyed playing cards and board games. Alfo loved her grandkids and great grandkids. For over ten years, they wintered in Arizona. Shewas a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lakota. Alfa was a member of the Garden Club.

Alfa is survived by: her husband of 76 years, Otto Paul Hertzke, Fairmont, MN; two daughters, Janice (Fred) Stecker, Lakota, Glenda (Jim) Rowe, Jackson, MN; one son, Jerald (Mary) Hertzke. Lakota; one son-in-law, Larry Shoemaker,Prescott, AZ; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Stewart, Lakota.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; one daughter, Sheryl; two sisters; and two brothers.
