"Otto P. Hertzke

Otto P. Hertzke, 98 of Fairmont, MN formerly of Lakota, died on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Mayo Health Systems-Lutz Wing, Fairmont. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church,Lakota, with Rev. Lynn Noel officiating. Interment wil be held in the church cemetery.

Otto Paul Hertzke was born on June 15, 1917 in rural Lakota, to Paul and Mattie (Leigh) Hertzke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lakota. Otto attended country school in Lincoln Township. He met AlfaSleper through his sister Ruth. On December 1, 1938 they were united in marriage at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Parsonage. Otto farmed his entire life, retiring at age 93. Alfa died on May 9, 2015. He enjoyed fishing, camping,water skiing, bowling, boating and especially time with the grandkids and great-grandkids. For 11 years, Otto and Alfa went south for the winter. Otto was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lakota, where he also served on thechurch cemetery board.

Otto is survived by: his two daughters, Janice Stecker (Fred), Lakota, and Glenda Rowe (James), Jackson, MN; one son, Jerald Hertzke (Mary), Lakota; one son-in-law, Larry Shoemaker, Prescott Valley, AZ; 12 grandchildren; 14great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Charlene Hertzke, Algona and Lorraine Stewart, Lakota.

Otto was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Alfa, of 76 years, who [sic] he dearly missed; on daughter, Sheryl Shoemaker; his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
